Texaco - CO Boiler Replacement
Description:
The client needed to replace a C.O. boiler which was in an area with limited access. The standard approach was a six-week process which included tearing the boiler down into pieces, replacing the tubes, and then rebuilding the boiler. Instead, in conjunction with the contractor, Sicklesteel devised a plan to fabricate a new 358,000# boiler off-site, roll it to a DEMAG TC3200 (625 ton) crane, pick the old boiler out at a 110' radius, set if off to one side and then lift the new boiler into the final position. This plan reduced the change out of the boiler to under 10 days saving the client considerable oil to oil time.
